My focus in this blog is a search for things to think about that are positive, refreshing, uplifting, Godly, and good. We have all heard enough of the things that are not. We all need a daily dose of Bible reading. God’s Word convicts and corrects us, but also inspires, comforts, encourages, and strengthens us. Reading the Bible changes us, rather, God’s Holy Spirit changes us as we allow His Word to be applied to us. All our meditation is powerless if not informed and guided by God’s Word.
“ … you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe.” 1 Thessalonians 2:13
“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12
If we are looking to survive and overcome the damage done to us by negative and destructive ideas and thoughts that surround us and permeate our minds and hearts, we have to let in the light of Jesus and put on the armor of God. Our protection is found in Ephesians chapter six: a belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, feet bearing the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit which is the word of God.
From this position of strength, wielding the Word of God, trusting the power of God, and wearing the armor of God, we can enjoy the peace of God. “And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:7). If meditating on things that are positive, fresh, uplifting, Godly and good is difficult for us, it is probably because we have looked for those things in the world instead of in the Word.
